Notification No. 41/2010 dated 31-5-2010 TDS Rules Amended for A.Y. 2011-12

Income Tax Department has issued the Notification No. 41/2010 dated 31-5-2010 TDS Rules Amended for A.Y. 2011-12 for Sixth Amendment Rules, 2010. This Notification No. 41/2010 is the Substitution of rules 30, 31, 31A, 31AA, 37CA and 37D; Form Nos. 16, 16A and 27D; insertion of Form No. 24G and omission of rule 37A.

S.O. 1261(E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 295 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961), the Central Board of Direct Taxes hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Income-tax Rules, 1962, namely:-

Government Of India has give a facility to check TIN NSDL Pan Status online on their official site. If you have applied to new Pan Number than you can check the Status on online at TIN NSDL website. Please follow the steps to check your status.

  2. Then click on status track for Pan Applications that show You a new window.
  3. Then Select Type either PAN or TAN as per your requirment
  4. If you have A 15 digit pan application acknowledgement number then select that box else select the below box containing your first name , middle name and surname with date of birth

Direct Tax Code | Finance Minister to Unveil 'Direct Taxes Code' today

Direct Tax Code | The Government will consider inputs and suggestions received from the public before finalising the Direct Taxes Code Bill for introduction in Parliament sometime during the Winter Session. The current Income-tax Act was enacted in 1961 to replace the earlier Act, which had been legislated before Independence in 1922.

More than 50 years have elapsed since the introduction of the current Income-tax Act. The Government had, therefore, announced its intention to introduce a revised and simplified Income-tax Bill while presenting the Union Budget for 2005-06. Subsequently, work was undertaken on drafting a Direct Taxes Code to replace the current Income-tax Act, 1961 and the Wealth-tax Act, 1957.

FBT :- Fringe Benefit Tax to be abolished

The commodity transaction tax (CTT) has also been abolished. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) will come into effect from April 01, 2010, Mukherjee said.

The corporate tax also remains unchanged.

He said additional revenue would be mobilised through disinvestment of government equity in public sector undertakings and other steps, but said that interest payment alone would be over Rs three lakh crore largely on account of the burden of stimulus packages announced last year that helped the economy grow by 6.7 per cent.

IT Returns and UTN for credit of TDS Latest Circulartion By CBDT

The Central Board of Direct Taxes have, vide notification S.O. No.866 (E) dated 27th, March,notified the following new forms for Assessment Year 2009-10 :-

(i) ITR-1 return of income for individuals having income from salary/ pension/ family pension and not having any other income except income by way of interest chargeable to income-tax under the head Income from other sources;
(ii) ITR-2 return of income for Individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) not having any income under the head Profits or gains of business or profession;
(iii) ITR-3 return of income for Individuals and HUFs being partners in firms and not carrying out business or profession under any proprietorship;
(iv) ITR-4 return of income for individual and HUFs having proprietory business or profession;
(v) ITR-5 combined form for return of income and fringe benefits for Firms/ Association of Persons / Body of Individuals;
(vi) ITR-6 combined form for return of income and fringe benefits for companies (other than companies claiming exemption under section 11;
(vii) ITR-7 combined form for return of income and fringe benefits for persons including companies required to furnish return under section 139(4A) or section 139(4B) or section 139(4C) or section 139(4D);
(viii) ITR-8 stand alone form for return of fringe benefits for persons who are not required to furnish return of income but are required to furnish return of fringe benefits.
